A wine merchant since 1937, now also a bar, tucked behind Marché Forville. A wide, carefully kept selection across regions and budgets, including small-producer bottles you don’t see elsewhere in town. Hervé, the owner, is unhurried and good company, happy to walk you through anything you taste. A dartboard in the corner makes it the rare wine bar that turns into an evening.

80 hectares of umbrella pine, cork oak and mimosa. A 40-minute climb delivers a panorama over the bay, the Lérins Islands and the Esterel massif. Entirely free.

Seven hundred metres of sand on the other side of the old port from the Croisette, free, lifeguarded in season, with showers and lockers. Shallow and calm, so it works with children. The road runs alongside it, which is the trade-off for not paying forty euros for a lounger.

Le Rooftop, Yacht Club de Cannes

At the eastern end of the Croisette, above the restaurant of the yacht club itself, looking out over the marina to the Lérins islands. The most serene of the Cannes rooftops, with the masts and rigging of moored yachts as the foreground and the bay beyond. Open Tue to Sun, best at sunset. Booking recommended.
