July has arrived, and with it the first of the fireworks. The Festival d’Art Pyrotechnique opens on the 4th and runs across the month, and there is no better free seat in Cannes than the sea wall below Le Suquet. We tend to walk up with something cold and claim a step early.
Elsewhere this week, the contemporary art centre at La Malmaison is worth an hour, if only to finish on the rooftop with the view back over the bay. And if you are here on a Monday, the open-air Ciné Quartier moves neighbourhood to neighbourhood, deckchairs and a big screen once it is dark.
Everything we mention lives, with dates and links, on the This Week page. We keep it current.
